Our Labor of Love Has Begun!
We bought this beautiful church to create a dreamy wedding and events venue.
We are taking a creative approach and turning things around, to make your wedding as special as it can be!
Most people marry in a church and have a reception elsewhere. We invite you to get ready on location, to wed outside and to use the whole inside space to entertain your guests.
Here's How It Will Work
We invite you to enjoy our bridal suite with a private entrance, a lounge area and a glamor stations, while the groom and his entourage enjoy the groom's lounge-library. These personal spaces makes it a breeze for the entire wedding party to get ready onsite!
Step outside to have your wedding ceremony in our beautiful garden then invite your guests to retire inside, where the largest room has been turned into an inviting place to dine, drink, and dance the night away!
Take amazing photos outside in the garden, across the street on the Chaplin River Bridge or inside the Historic Church itself. Then go to your reception just inside the church.
Join Us On This Journey!
We invite you to join us as we completely renovate the property and get it ready for your private parties, business meetings, corporate retreats and, of course, weddings!
Stay tuned as we show before and after photos, and we invite you to join us with photo and video documentary-style updates on our progress, our successes and any struggles we have to triumph over (there have already been a few.!) Read our ABOUT page to learn more!)
Thank you for stopping by and we hope you will join us here on our blog and follow us on Facebook and Instagram as we move forward!

History of this Gothic Revival Church
What are Gothic and Gothic Revival Styles?
Gothic architecture originated in the 12th century in Southern France and can be seen in many historic buildings, including Notre Dame and it was soon adopted in England, famously for the construction of Westminster Abbey.
Our church is constructed in the Gothic Revival style, which was popular throughout the 19th century. The revival of this medieval style was seen not only in buildings, but also in decorative arts of that era.
The Church's History
This beautiful church housed the congregation of the Perryville Presbyterian Church for 195 years, until February of 2023.
The site itself was home to an earlier church structure that served as a hospital after the Battle of Perryville during the US Civil War. There was extensive damage to the interior of that earlier church and the church received reparations in the early 20th Century which helped to fund the construction of the present building.
The red brick church features a hipped roof with decorative exposed rafter ends, gables on the north and south facades with decorative extruded brickwork at the top of the gable, gothic arched leaded glass windows flanked by pilasters, buttresses, and pinnacles.
There is a wall dormer on the east facade, limestone trim, gothic arched double doors, a square bell tower with buttresses and a crenellated parapet (a battlement often used on castles). It also has an enclosed porte cochere (a large covered entrance large enough for vehicles to pass through) on the south facade, a largely blank west facade, and a rough-hewn stone base.
The church is part of the Perryville Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
In Search of The Perfect Name
How did we come up with the new name for our beautiful venue? We did a lot of research! We wanted to honor the history of the church and the community.
While researching, we discovered a couple interesting facts. First, the cornerstone didn't reflect the age of the first church on that site. The actual year for the first church was 1828. That resonated with us immediately because our mother's birthday is 8/28! With a little more research, we discovered the exact date -- Feb 3 -- which is Nicole's Birthday!
We knew the church was amazing and wanted it immediately but these little details (discovered after we purchased it) validated those feelings we had from the first moment ... this church was meant to be for us!
With all the information and history of the church that we came across we wanted to honor that history.
As a result, we selected 1828 Perryville Chateau in honor of the year the church was established, the city where it was built and the French roots of the architectural style with the label "Chateau."
What's Next?
This beautiful church deserves to be appreciated and cared for. That's what we plan to do!
We are preserving the historic architecture and making the cosmetic changes necessary to repurpose it as a charming events venue!
